Lapsang Souchong

Lapsang Souchong is a large leaf black tea that is dried over pine smoke. The result is a warm smoky black tea, a favorite among early Americans, and imported to colonial Charles Town by the British East India Company. Colonial tea recipes commonly blended Souchong with sweeter green teas such as Hyson or Gunpowder.
