Olive Shell Charm

The lettered olive shell was designated the official shell of South Carolina in 1984. Olive shells have a shiny porcelain-like surface. The markings on the shell are the result of the animal secreting pigment from its outer lip throughout its main growing period. These sand-dwelling gastropods can be found in shallow waters throughout the Carolinas.
